Gotta Watch What I Say

Alright, so think back to the early days of the pandemic. Remember when we first started hearing about lab leaks, natural immunity, and “following the science”? And then, almost overnight, every major news outlet—no matter the country—seemed to be pushing the exact same narrative. It wasn’t just reporting; it was like they were all reading from the same script. Anything that didn’t fit the official story? Shut down. Buried. Labeled as misinformation.

At first, I didn’t really notice it. Like most people, I just went along with it. But then I started looking into things, asking questions. And that’s when I realized something was off. Google, Facebook, all the big tech companies—they were actively suppressing certain information. Why? That was the question I kept asking. And whenever I asked, I got slammed for it. I wasn’t pushing an opinion, I was just asking—but even that wasn’t allowed. I had my accounts suspended, posts removed, and was even banned at one point just for mentioning natural immunity. Not saying it was better, not arguing about it—just bringing it up.

What they didn’t seem to understand was that the harder they tried to shut down discussion, the more suspicious it all seemed. “Trust the science” became their go-to answer, but no one was actually explaining anything. That just made me question everything even more.

This song came out of that time. It was before I had completely lost faith in the government and healthcare system, but I was already on the fence. I was also looking for work then, like so many others. And out of nowhere, job interviews started getting weird. More than once, I had interviewers bring up my social media posts—posts where I was simply questioning things. I had worked in film for 25 years, and not once had anyone ever cared about what I posted online. But suddenly, it was an issue.

So, I did what I had to do. I took the posts down. No big deal, I figured—I just needed a job. And sure enough, I landed one not long after. This time, no one asked about social media. But once I got on set, it became clear why. Someone straight-up told me, “We don’t talk about this stuff unless it’s a safety issue.” That was my answer right there. I had to watch what I said and who I said it to. And when the vaccines rolled out? Forget it. You really couldn’t question anything. If you did, you were labeled, silenced, or worse. It was a crazy time, and honestly, I still carry a lot of frustration from it.

These days? They’ve already taken everything they could from me, career-wise. So now, I just say whatever the hell I want. If someone doesn’t like it? I couldn’t care less.
